Military Analysis and Lessons Learned (LL)

Transforming acquired combat experience into institutional knowledge. From primary data collection at the unit level to the rapid adaptation of tactical actions.

Combat Reality

The dynamic operational environment generates invaluable combat experience daily. However, if this knowledge remains isolated within individual battalions, overall military effectiveness stagnates. Traditional reporting systems are dangerously slow for a war where enemy tactics evolve rapidly. Units require reliable tools to quickly analyse their own actions and implement immediate changes directly at the line of contact.

Training Focus

This capability development programme prepares a full spectrum of specialists, from unit personnel to staff officers. Military personnel master the algorithms for conducting after-action reviews (AAR), the methodology for collecting objective observations, and the formulation of reliable analytical reports. The focus is on the practical application of the standardised Lessons Learned process, enabling units to autonomously adjust their tactics and systematically improve combat effectiveness.

Troop Leading Procedures (TLP)

Duration2 weeks · 65 hours
Target AudienceSection, platoon, and company commanders.
Course Goal

In the current operational environment, the number of factors a commander must consider when planning a mission has significantly increased. At the same time, the overall time available for a commander to make a decision has decreased. Given the above, it can be assumed that the traditional method of a commander's work is outdated. The application of modern operation planning methods is a necessity. Goal: To teach trainees how to qualitatively analyze tasks and develop courses of action using Troop Leading Procedures (TLP), which allows for the most effective mission execution with minimal threat to personnel and military equipment. The course is designed for squad, platoon, and company commanders, regardless of their prior training level. It is recommended to bring a laptop for the duration of the classes. Course duration: 67 hours.

Lessons Learned: Fundamentals

Duration50 hours
Target AudienceUnit personnel
Course Goal

Continuous adaptation to a volatile combat environment requires the involvement of all personnel in capturing and examining tactical experience. This capability development programme prepares military personnel to practically apply the lessons learned process at the unit level. Participants master the algorithms for conducting after-action reviews (AAR), objective observation techniques, and the fundamentals of preliminary combat event analysis. Graduates are capable of independently recording critical engagement details, facilitating tactical debriefs, and transmitting reliable data to systematically improve unit training.
