Combat Leadership Experience of the 3rd OShBr: Unit Management Algorithms

Boryviter Military School hosted the "Ukrainian Combat Leadership Experience" conference, which resulted in the systematization of a personnel management algorithm based on the practices of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. The primary outcome of the event was the establishment of clear commander training standards to enhance unit management effectiveness and ensure combat cohesion.

The Head of Combat Training of the 3rd OShBr, Major Kyrylo "Kirt" Berkal, outlined the key requirements for the command echelon. Baseline criteria include the commander's professional competence, personal example on the battlefield, and the systematic integration of new service members into the unit. Management is based on rigorous demands for results, coupled with an objective assessment of the personnel's current capabilities. To maintain discipline, the principle of delayed decision-making is applied to eliminate the influence of emotions, while the honest briefing of crews and detachments regarding operational tasks is guaranteed.

A distinct factor in developing the unit's overall capability is professional mentorship and the commander's adaptability. An officer is obligated to cultivate responsibility at the individual level and develop new leaders without artificial competition for positions. Boryviter instructors establish these practices as a mandatory baseline, as standardized and composed leadership directly impacts the successful execution of missions to engage enemy targets.
