Training of 140 Fixed-Wing UAV Operators with Support from the ZMIN Foundation

Boryviter Military School has trained 140 servicemembers in the fixed-wing UAV specialization. With financial support from the ZMIN Foundation, training airframes and necessary hardware were procured, and the sustained operation of the instructor cadre was ensured. Optimization of the training process reduced the basic crew training period from three months to one without compromising effectiveness.

Unlike multirotor drones, which operate in support of platoons or companies, fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles establish reconnaissance capabilities at the brigade level. Coordination between UAV crews and artillery groups enables the engagement of targets in the enemy's operational depth: logistics nodes, repair depots, headquarters, as well as electronic warfare (EW) and air defense systems. The operation of such systems is not intuitive; it requires operators to strictly adhere to operational algorithms, monitor telemetry, and maintain continuous combat coordination.

The training process for fixed-wing systems requires a minimum of three weeks of intensive instruction, including dozens of hours on simulators and practical flights at training grounds. Thanks to the contributions of partners, Boryviter ensures the continuity of the training process. Consequently, the Armed Forces are provided with qualified specialists capable of countering electronic warfare systems and ensuring the effective employment of high-value unmanned platforms in the combat zone.
