The Future of European Defence: Boriviter Participates in Discussion on Security Challenges

On April 1st, a roundtable dedicated to strengthening European defence policy took place in Brussels. Tetiana Ostra, co-founder of Boryviter CoE, joined the strategic discussion on Europe’s security challenges by 2030 and Ukraine’s future role in the defence sector.
The roundtable, titled “White Paper in practice: where ambitions and resources meet?”, was organized by the Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism,” the Ukrainian Liaison Office for the UA R&D community (GUARD), and the Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office LINO with the support of The Horizon Europe.

Boryviter was an active participant in the discussion, where representatives from the European Commission, NGOs, and businesses explored the opportunities for integrating Ukraine into the European defence-industrial ecosystem, particularly in the context of new security challenges. Significant attention was also given to the potential participation of Ukrainian manufacturers in joint projects and ensuring equal access to defence procurement within the EU.
Tetiana Ostra, co-Founder, International Relations Director, Boryviter CoE remarked:
“Ukraine is not just a forward post, but an integral part of the European security architecture. Its value for partners lies not in raw wartime experience, but in the ability to jointly transform this experience into systemic, long-term solutions to strengthen the security of both Ukraine and the European Union.”
The roundtable initiated an important discourse aimed at shaping a shared European-Ukrainian vision of defence capabilities needed to deter and protect against current and potential threats, especially from russia. This marked a significant step in enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and Europe in the defence field.
The involvement of Ukrainian representatives in such strategic discussions underscores Ukraine’s critical role in shaping the new security architecture of Europe and its active participation in international defence initiatives.
