Multirotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

The Training Program Multirotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles encompasses the training of military personnel on the safe and effective use of all “civilian” drones available in Ukraine in combat environment. Since the beginning of a full-scale war, the use of such UAVs for combat missions (aerial reconnaissance/artillery fire adjustment/dropping) very quickly became an integral capability of the Defense Forces. Taking into account the innovativeness and high dynamics of technological development in this field, the school uses methodological approach to the development of training programs and constantly updates the contents of the courses based on the current experience of using UAVs at the front. We train operators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Territorial Defense, National Guard of Ukraine, National Police, Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, State Emergency Service of Ukraine, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and other defense agencies and organizations.

The training contributes to the prevention of accidental losses of vehicles, and most importantly – prevents the loss of lives of Soldiers due to compliance with the safety rules for the use of drones, correct entry and exit from combat positions, coordinated work of the pilot and operator, and rapid tracking of the actions and movements of the enemy.

The school has an R&D site for testing, manufacturing, and improving technologies related to the aero sphere. For example, our instructors carry out reengineering of aeroscopes, improving and testing remote antennas and amplifiers, look for and test technological solutions for “hacking” and anonymizing drones, and work on countering the enemy UAVs.

The Program consists of two training courses:

  • Use of civilian multirotor UAVs in military environment
  • Use of DJI Matrice 300 in military environment

The course is designed for military pilots and operators/navigators of quadcopters of all models manufactured by DJI, Autel, Yuneec, Parrot, Skydio and other drones used by military personnel to perform combat missions – conducting aerial reconnaissance, adjusting artillery fire, and dropping.

The training program is designed to teach both those who do not yet have piloting experience and those who wish to improve their skills and learn about the latest updates in this field. The course provides an opportunity to master the settings and functions of drones, device protection and cyber security, to learn the principles of aerial reconnaissance, coordination with artillery, dropping from drones, searching for the wounded, helping sappers, documenting the consequences and crimes of war. Due to this, the course is relevant for drone operators of all agencies and organizations of the defense and security system of Ukraine.

The level of complexity of tasks performed by the trainees during practical classes increases every day – from the basic aerobatic complex to rehearsing combat scenarios with the simulation of an enemy attack. The training program is flexible, and our instructors can easily adapt it to the needs of the target audience.

Situational awareness systems are integrated into the training program, among which the most needed in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the “Kropyva” developed by the Army SOS, as well as software like “FireFly”, “Delta”, “Terminal”, etc. Thanks to modern software, the efficiency of interaction and coordination of units during the execution of tasks increases, the speed and accuracy of hitting targets with artillery fire increases as well. In addition, the “Kropyva” software helps to do land navigation, and during the flight it monitors the operation of auxiliary systems such as Starlink.

Standard duration of the course is 5 days.

This is an intensive and advanced course designed for military pilots and drone operators who already have experience flying multirotor UAVs. A prerequisite for this course is the availability of a drone and successful completion of our basic course on the use of multirotor UAVs or previous combat piloting experience.

The purpose of this course is to 1) prepare drone operators to use the DJI Matrice 300 RTK to execute combat tasks such as performing aerial reconnaissance and adjusting artillery fire, as well as 2) to reduce equipment losses and most importantly – to save the lives of the Ukrainian Soldiers.

The advantages of using this drone are:

  • the ability to adjust artillery fire at a distance of up to 20 km thanks to the powerful technical characteristics of the drone, namely the camera;
  • increased safety of crews when performing tasks from positions that are at a greater distance from the enemy.

Standard duration of the course is 4 days.
